Meeting notetakers that join the call

Otter's own help page describes Otter Notetaker as a participant that joins Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams to record and transcribe. Otter says the notetaker cannot join without the other people seeing it. Summaries and action items are the point of the product.

Fireflies' own guide says Fireflies joins when you invite [email protected] or turn on auto-join, and that it appears in the participant list as Fireflies.ai Notetaker. Their homepage also describes a desktop app and a Chrome extension that capture without that bot. Their bot path is the one that joins.

Choose Otter or Fireflies when the job is a transcript and a summary after the call, and the other people are supposed to see that a notetaker is in the room. OnSubject.AI does not join, and it shows you words to say while the conversation is still going. The files it reads stay on your PC. The category table is the short version of that difference.

A tool that also answers during the call

Cluely's homepage, read on 8 November 2026, says Cluely takes meeting notes and gives real-time answers, and that it does not join meetings. The same page markets that as undetectable, and says the window does not show up in screen sharing. Their pricing page lists a plan whose own description is being hidden during screen share. Their Live Insights docs also describe coding assistance and answers during an invisibility mode. Their docs say a knowledge base can hold company text for use during calls. Their App Store listing says notes are stored by them, and that you can delete recordings.

OnSubject.AI is in the same broad job, a window that helps during a conversation and does not join the call. It is not the same product. Your Scenarios and the transcript are files on your PC. There is no Mac app. There is no plan whose purpose is to hide the window from a test. Exams and certification tests are refused. That rule is in the FAQ.

Choose Cluely if their own description matches what you want, including the way they store notes and the way they talk about being hidden. Choose OnSubject.AI if the documents have to stay on the Windows PC, and if you do not want a product sold for exams.

A general chatbot

A chatbot waits until you leave the conversation and paste a question. OnSubject.AI listens to the call you are already in and answers from the Scenario you prepared. Neither one joins the meeting. The chatbot does not keep your files on your PC unless that vendor says it does. We are not naming one vendor here, because that claim would need that vendor's current docs.
